2 SPOTS AVAILABLE- FAIRY MEADOWS APRIL 13-20 2024-

Fairy Meadows is a dream come true. This hut is on a lottery system because of its huge demand. This means it is very hard to get into the hut and spaces are very limited. BCMOUNTAINGUIDES have secured 6 spots with 5 spots spoken for by experienced clients. This leaves 1 spot open for a group that is looking for a chance to enjoy this hut and it’s amazing terrain. This trip is a fully catered trip that includes helicopter, guide and meals.

COST- $3500 per person.

Setting

Situated in the Adamant Range of the Selkirk Mountains, the rugged glaciated terrain surrounding the Bill Putnam (Fairy Meadow) Hut provides some of the best backcountry skiing and peak bagging anywhere. The powder snow is excellent and abundant. The high cols between the Adamant peaks offer world famous skiing as well as provide convenient routes to some of the peaks. The strong, experienced skier will enjoy and be challenged by the area. The challenge of ascending summits and high cols is rewarded by breathtaking views and long, uninterrupted deep powder runs back to hot drinks and delicious meals. Short runs close to the hut also offer opportunities for good tree skiing or enjoying a relaxed day.

The Week

This is a unique experience in which we will share the hut with two other guides and their groups. Our group will be a private group of 6 to explore the area. Being three separate groups allows us to enjoy a high degree of safety with having 3 guides in the area as well as working closely together to facilitate each day on where our groups will go. By being a smaller group we can enjoy a more intimate experience.

Difficulty

Fairy Meadow is not for beginners! An advanced level of fitness and high-intermediate to advanced downhill ski abilites are essental. You must be able to comfortably ski “black runs” at ski resorts in order to attend.

Accommodation and Meals

The Bill Putnam (Fairy Meadow) Hut was built in 1965 and has undergone several renovations. It is a two-story building nestled just below tree line at 2050m (6765’). The view is spectacular as it overlooks the Granite Glacier and Swan Creek valley. Participants will enjoy comfortable accommodations, with a communal sleeping loft upstairs and living space on the ground floor. The hut is equipped with a woodstove, propane stoves and lighting, cooking and eating utensils, nearby outhouses and comfortable sleeping foamies. In addition, you can enjoy a luxurious sauna at the end of the day!

Scrumptious meals will be prepared at the hut by our camp chef, Jeremy, along with the help of the guides.

Food is included throughout the camp, starting day one with dinner (Please bring lunch on day 1) and ending with lunch on your final day.

It is strongly recommended that you stay in Golden the night before the camp. It is not unusual for the Trans-Canada Highway to be closed both east and west of Golden due to avalanche hazard or traffic accidents. BCMOUNTAINGUIDES cannot issue a refund or pay for an extra flight if you miss the helicopter flight to the hut.

Transportation and Meeting Place

Participants vehicles will be used to transport participants to the Sorcerer lodge staging area, 45 min west of Golden. The staging area is the same highway turn off as Great Canadian Heliskiing.

The most convenient airport to Golden is Calgary International Airport.

Trips may not always run exactly according to schedule for reasons beyond our control (weather, avalanche closures, etc). For this reason, we recommend that you do not book any scheduled travel (such as airplane flights) within a day of the last scheduled day of the trip.

Special Note regarding weather and helicopter transport: Please note that helicopter travel can be delayed by bad weather, and this can sometimes include overnight delays. These sorts of delays are beyond the control of BCMOUNTAINGUIDES and we cannot provide accommodation and meals in Golden, should this occur. Although it does not happen often, you should be prepared for the possibility of this unforeseeable additional expense.

A full equipment list will be issued well before the trip to insure you will have everything you need for this trip.
