Introduction to mountaineering

This is the starter course to build that foundation of knowledge and skills. We will figure out our systems to properly carry everything in a day pack then go stretch our legs.

  • Introduction to gear and most common knots

  • crampons and an ice axe use as well as self arrest

  • snow and ice talk with anchor theory and building.

  • crevasse/rock rescue with theory

  • mountain travel techniques and building on situational awareness and hazard recongition

  • glacier travel

  • rock climbing gear with anchor theory and building

  • rock movement and gear placements.

Advanced mountaineering

Once the foundation is there its time to advance the skill set. These courses are designed to challenge you to help keep developing your mountain skills.

  • rope systems and dynamics

  • more complex rope rescue techniques and scenarios.

  • moving through 4th and lower 5th class terrain more effectively and safely.

  • light weight camping kits, food and climbing gear

  • advanced route planning and communications

  • Bergshrund negotiation

  • team building


Private guiding days

We know time can be sensitive to some as our lives can be busy. We provide full private guiding days or trips for those that just want to head out and enjoy the mountains in a fun, safe environment. We can discuss options and areas that will suite your ability and comfort level or to be challenged with stepping outside your comfort zone.
