RESCUE and NAVIGATION

Rock and Crevasse rescue with education on gear. There are many things to consider when performing any kind of rescue. From Hazard recognition and building very strong anchors to problem solving and efficiency. Having good knowledge of the gear you use and its limitations is a necessary foundation to understanding what is needed to have a successful outcome. We can accommodate intro rescue courses as well as advanced more complicated scenarios.

Navigation/Weather Forecasting and Glacier travel Learn to use weather products, your phone apps and the old map and compass. These courses are built for either the trail/off trail hiker or the climber/mountaineer navigating complex glaciers and mountain terrain. Learn the skills you need to get to where you are going no matter the conditions.


Techniques and Components

Learning proper techniques either while climbing, belaying or moving together through the mountains takes time and practice. There are many pro’s and con’s to all types of equipment and techniques. We can help you better understand what is on your harness and the different ways to use your gear and your body.


Situational Awareness and Hazard Recognition

Having the ability to be situational aware as well as being able to recognize hazards are your first line of defense in mountain travel. The goal is to be able to recognize the hazards and be able to react to eliminate them or to lower the hazard to an acceptable risk. These skills take time and experince to develope but having a good foundation of knowledge is key. These components of mountain travel pair well with the hard skills of the ability to use your equipment effectivly.
